Donald C. “Don” Neate, 86, of Marysville, died Wednesday afternoon, Dec.12, 2018, at his home following many months of failing health.
He was a retired school teacher and principal with the Fairbanks School District. His teaching career also extended to Midview Schools in Lorain County, North Baltimore Schools in Wood County and Crestline School in Crawford County as a principal.
He was a man who enjoyed delving into family history, writing and stamp collecting with his many pen pal friends throughout the world. He also ran a chapter of the local Mailbox Bible Club in Marysville for more than 10 years. Dedicated to his country, he was a veteran of the Korean War, and proudly served his country.
He was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Lakewood, to the late Harold V. and Susan M. Anderson Neate. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Jim Neate, and sister, Dorothy Kaiser.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth and Charles Neate of the home, Harold (Debbie) Neate of Marysville and Ed (Melissa) Neate of Milford Center; grandchildren, Joshua (Lyndsi) Neate, Hannah (Jack) Dagenhart, Jesse Neate, Savanah (Zach) Corya, Kayla Moats and Sam Moats; great-grandchildren, Mason and Makenna Corya; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. Jason Knight will officiate funeral services at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Milford Center Cemetery with the Union County Honor Guard providing full military honors.
