Donald E. Rinehart, 84, of Marysville, died Sunday morning, July 29, 2018, at his home with his family at his side, following an extended illness.
He was a graduate of Central High School in Columbus and, following graduation, enlisted and served his country in the U.S. Army’s last cold weather training unit at Camp Hale, Colorado.
He worked for many years as a refrigeration/ air conditioning technician at The Ohio State University Hospitals in Columbus and later as an electrician at PPG Industries in Delaware.
He made his first parachute jump at the age of 75 and his second a few years later over the Island of Kauai, Hawaii.
He was born May 24, 1934, in Columbus, to the late Lucille Smith Rinehart Kehlmeier and Harry Rinehart. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Goodrich.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debra A. Trimble Rinehart, whom he married Feb. 2, 1974, in Columbus; sons, Jeremy (Lela), Christopher (Christine) and Scott Rinehart; three grandchildren, Kaden, Jayden and Hannah; sister, Terry (Bill) Carpenter; brothers, Larry (Jeanne) Rinehart and Jerry (Joan) Kehlmeier; and many nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Ingram Funeral Home will be completing arrangements.
