Donald F. Johnson, 81, of East Liberty died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 at his residence with his loving wife Violet by his side.
He owned and operated Johnson Excavating and Septic Tank Service along with farming many acres of his own and custom farming.
Over the years, he enjoyed drag racing, Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, tractor pulls and riding around in his Jeep or John Deere Gator with his best friend Jewel by his side.
He was born Oct. 7, 1938 to the late Francis and Letha (Ewing) Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Janet E. Ballinger.
He is survived by his wife of over 37 years, Violet (Newsome) Johnson; children, Edward (Tiffany Walls) Johnson and Elizabeth (David) Marsh; a grandson, Joshua Marsh; his great grandchildren; sisters, Carol A. (Jerry Arnold) Butcher and Jeanine (Daniel) Vejil; numerous nieces and nephews and his close friends, Buck B., Gary L., Mike J., Ronnie C. and Ratchet-Jaw Sandy.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020 and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020 at the Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel, 222 W. Center St. West Mansfield, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. Jason Robson will officiate and burial will follow at North Greenfield Cemetery.
In keeping with his wishes, the family kindly requests casual, comfortable attire for the calling hours and funeral. Blue jeans and t-shirts are welcome.
