Donald Joseph “Don” Hess, 82, of Plain City, Ohio, passed away on February 29, 2024. He was born on September 26, 1941, in Middletown, Ohio, to the late Roland and Louise Hess.
Don was a selfless, humorous, and wise family man, known for his compassion and integrity. He was devoted to his wife of 64 years, Sue, and his family. A lifelong farmer, Don had a knack for fixing anything with his hands. He found joy in helping others and participating in community events. His love for tractor pulls, county fairs, and country western music brought smiles to those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue; brother, Russell David Hess; children Jeff (Dawn), Jennifer, Julie (Thomas), and Jason (Tracy); grandchildren Beth (Ben), Brian (Kari), Jay (Andra), Marian (Ray), Cody, Dakota, Peyton, Tatum, Hayden (Ashlee), Lily, Morgan (Matt), Drew, Dylan, and Lexi; and great-grandchildren Katie, Lauren, Tyeler, and Ryan. Don was preceded in death by brother, Michael Hess, and grandchildren Carrington and Chandler Lather.
Don’s career spanned from a lifetime of farming to service management at Fyda Freightliner and Bulk Transit. He was a proud alumnus of Lemon Monroe High School and the University of Cincinnati.
Calling hours will be from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at New California Presbyterian Church, 10089 Industrial Parkway, Marysville, Ohio 43040, on Thursday, March 7, 2024. A service to celebrate Don’s life will follow at 6:30 pm, with fellowship and a meal hosted by the membership of the church afterwards.
