Donald “Scott” Hayman, 70, of Richwood, died early Wednesday morning, June 2 at Marion Pointe Nursing Home following a brief illness of leukemia.
A Vietnam War veteran and Purple Heart recipient, he spent his adult life in disability. He was a lifetime member of DAV and a member of the Eagles and VFW. He also enjoyed collecting antiques and hunting at yard sales.
He was born June 25, 1950 in Columbus to the late Robert and Virginia (Dolan) Hayman. He married Joyce Gildow on Feb. 11, 1983 and she also preceded him in death on March 2001.
He is survived by his siblings, Kathy (James) Hartwell of Fredericktown; Bob (Helen) Hayman of Pueblo West, Colorado; and Karen (Steve) Goodwin of West Mansfield. Also surviving are his step-daughter, Stacie (Jon) Steele and family of Bellefontaine, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes, no services will be held. Should friends desire, contributions may be made in Scott’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Kindred Hospice (1199 Delaware Ave., Marion, Ohio 43302) in care of Ingram Funeral Home, who is handling arrangements.
