Doris M. Smith, 100, of Marysville, died Friday afternoon, Oct. 6, 2017, at Memorial Gables following many months of failing health.
She will be remembered as being accomplished in the kitchen, especially with her baking abilities, and an intrepid traveler.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1916, in Bloomingburg, to the late Jesse and Hattie Conrad Boyer. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd V. Smith, and her son, Gary D. “Joe” Smith.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sharon Smith of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, John P. (Christy) Smith of Zanesfield, Robin K. (Bill) Westfall of Mechanicsburg and Chris G. (Margaret) Neil of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Logan (Paige) Class, Kara Westfall, Dalton and Sawyer Smith, Elizabeth Monroe, Kristen VanWay, Joseph Neil, Kari Lundy, Dwight Preston and John Kelley; great-great-grandchildren, Eli and Lucas Class, Alex Lundy, Alexis and Ethan Monroe, Kinley and Kylie Balyer and Ellie VanWay; sisters, Lois Wyland and Ruth Ann Clickner; and brothers, Paul Boyer, Dale (Ruby) Boyer and Lloyd (Cara) Boyer.
There will be a gathering of family and friends Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home, where the Rev. James Taylor will officiate funeral services at 4 p.m. Burial will follow at a later date at Eastlawn Cemetery in Columbus next to her husband.
