Dorothy A. Weaver, 65, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Monday evening, Oct. 29, 2018, at Memorial Hospital of Union County.
She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Marysville High School in the class of 1972. She was a longtime employee at Chenile Products and later worked at the Ray Lewis plant. She also formerly attended E.U.B. Methodist Church in Peoria.
She was known for her appreciation for hats, her fur babies and being a “people person.” She never met a stranger, which was usually obvious when going to auctions with her sister, Brenda.
She also enjoyed traveling, but her biggest joy came from spending time with her nieces and nephews. She adored each and every one of them and spent countless hours taking them to their different events, as well as watching them. She will truly be missed. Her sisters are thankful for the time they spent the previous Saturday night enjoying a night out to celebrate her birthday.
She was born Oct. 28, 1953, in Columbus, to the late Orville and Ruth (Jones) Weaver. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her nephew, Mike Anderson.
She is survived by her sisters, Ruby Anderson, Helen Kaffenbarger and Brenda Weaver, all of Marysville; niece, Michele Shope; nephews, James and Jason (Jennifer) Spain; and great-nieces and nephews, Ashley and Austin Shope, Ethan, Jacob and Kloe Spain and Matthew, Patrick and Katherine Spain.
A memorial gathering will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. A service celebrating her life will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date. In her honor, it is requested those attending either the memorial gathering or the celebration service wear their favorite or fanciest hat.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Union County Cancer Society.
