Douglas Joe Rausch, 17, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He loved being loved. He broke the hearts of all who knew him with his pure innocence and infectious laugh. He took pleasure in simple things, such as his mother teasing him by dangling her hair in his face or father spinning him in his wheelchair. His favorite things were dinosaurs in movies, music of all genres, someone singing to him, cuddling and the color blue. He truly will be missed by all who were special in his life.
He was born Jan. 2, 2001, at Mt. Carmel Hospital, to Eric Robert and Lana DeAnn Rausch.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Betty Jean Mummey and Lavern Elmer Rausch.
In addition to his loving and devoted parents, he is also survived by his longtime caregiver, Leandra Hughes; paternal grandparents, Joe and Mary Rausch; aunts and uncle, Brian (Misty Travis) Rausch and Angela (Nathan) Moder; and Judy (Dave) Yasko.
Calling hours will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. Kathy Reiff will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow at Broadway Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital or the Union County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
