Douglas N. Brown, 72, of Mechanicsburg, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at Memorial Hospital of Marysville.
He was a lifelong farmer and resident of Mechanicsburg with a passion for the land. He had a generous heart and soul, as well as a strong devotion to his family and beloved animals. He will be profoundly and deeply missed and loved forever by his family.
He was born on Aug. 29, 1944, in Mechanicsburg, to the late Andrew Jackson and Barbara (Cordial) Brown. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, George Hannah and Lacy Brown, and sisters, Dorothy Pack, Virginia Kise and Fern Akers.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruth (Broadstone) Brown; his son, Doug Brown of Mechanicsburg; his daughters, Tami (David) McGuire of Mechanicsburg and Marti (Greg) Dellinger of Plain City; his grandchildren, Dave McGuire (Sadie Roll) and Garrett and Grant Dellinger; his great grandsons, Levi and Andrew McGuire; his brother, Tracy (Judy) Brown of Urbana; and special friends, Doug McDonald, Larry Hannah, and Kacey and Paige Lewis.
It is requested for those in attendance at his funeral service to wear casual clothing. The Rev. Paul Schleuter will officiate funeral services at 3 p.m. Thursday at Skillman, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, in Mechanicsburg. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
