Earl T. Dunbar, 96, of Marysville, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 21, 2018, at Memorial Gables with his wife, Olive Jeanne, and other family members by his side.
He retired from farm management after 37 years, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II. A longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, he was also involved with the Windsor and Community Seniors, and was president of the Residents Council at the Gables.
He was a dedicated family man and was active with his children and grandchildren in their school, scouts, 4-H and sports activities. He and Olive enjoyed 17 years of wintering in Florida.
He was born Oct. 7, 1922, in Union County, to the late James Trowbridge and Maud Estelle Reed Dunbar. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Merle Dunbar; brother, Floyd Dunbar; sister, Mable Ruth Dunbar; sister-in-law, Virginia Boerger; and brother-in-law, Ray M. “Bud” Brake.
He is survived by his wife, the former Olive Jeanne Brake; children, John T. (Linda) Dunbar of Westerville, Gary T. (Janice) Dunbar of Cincinnati, James T. (Carolyn) Dunbar of Conway, Arkansas and Susan F. (Tim) Bailey of Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren, Brian (Colleen) Dunbar, Melissa (Jamie) Gates, Steve (Nikki) Dunbar, Bob (Ashley) Dunbar, Stefanie (Fredrik) Mollborn, Justin Bailey, Kenneth Dunbar and Craig (Heather) Dunbar; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. James Taylor will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Milford Center Cemetery, where the Union County Honor Guard will perform full military rites.
In his memory, contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
