A longtime local attorney, he was a former partner with the Schultz, Howard and Cox Law Firm, now known as Schultz, Cox and Will Law Firm.
He was a member and elder of the New California Presbyterian Church and the Union County Bar Association. He was an avid OSU Buckeye fan and enjoyed reading and golf as a pastime.

He also became a “Parrott Head” Jimmy Buffett fan.
He will be remembered as a jovial introvert, a man of strong convictions, but very charming in his personality and how he interacted with those around him.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Matthew McKenzie Howard, a nephew, Eric Howard, a brother-in-law, Robert A. McKay, a sister-in-law, Sandy Howard, and special friends Joe Henderson and Judge Richard Parrott.

In his memory, contributions may be made to the New California Presbyterian Church or the Daily Needs Assistance of Plain City in care of Ingram Funeral Home, which is handling the arrangements.
