Geneva A. Massie, 74, of Marysville, died Monday morning, July 15, 2019 at Darby Glenn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hilliard following months of failing health.
Geneva was a devout Christian, a devoted wife and mother, and a selfless giver. She enjoyed reading, writing, pets, garden flowers and bird watching. In her younger years, she enjoyed swimming and playing softball, and she was an excellent baker. But she was perhaps happiest when in the company of her family, playing games and laughing.
She was born May 25, 1945 in Plain City to the late John and Mary Christner Borntrager. She married Nicholas A. Massie on Nov. 26, 1969 at Watkins Community Church. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2014 after 44 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy, and a brother, Jay Borntrager of Raleigh, North Carolina.
She is survived by her children Mervin (Tammy) Miller of Mechanicsburg, Loretta (David) Vanhoose of Dublin, and Richard (Gina) Miller of Marysville; grandchildren Erin (Bradley) Albertson, Timothy Miller, Amber, Andy & Mackenzie Vanhoose, Sabrina & Davina Lane; a great-granddaughter Baylee; a sister Kathrin Keim of Canton; a brother John Borntrager of Tipp City; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Ingram Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery next to her husband, Nicholas. Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. service time.
In her memory, contributions may be made to the Marysville Church of the Nazarene in care of the funeral home.
