Georgene Jackson Kessler, age 84, of Marysville, died peacefully Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at her home with beloved family by her side.
A homemaker, she was first and foremost a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a generous heart and loved shopping with her grandkids, looking for garage sales, and antiquing. She was known for her keen sense of home decorating and organizing. She loved to help coordinate church events, wedding and baby showers, and loved to host her family every opportunity she had – especially for Sunday lunch.
Lovingly known to friends and family as “Jean” and “Grammy;” she was an active member at Marysville Church of Christ, where she was deeply involved in Thursday school. She had a special place in her heart for children and found every opportunity to give unconditionally to those less fortunate than her.
Above all, her deep faith in Jesus Christ led to a life full of deep compassion and love for all of those that came into contact with her, especially her family.
She was born March 14, 1940 in Johnson County, Kentucky to the late Payne and Seula Segrave Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Lorraine, Roberta and Phyllis; her father-and mother-in-law, Robert Kessler and Winifred Kaufman; a sister-in-law, Madeline Giles; and a great-niece, Kenzie Egnor.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Wayne E. Kessler, whom she married March 19, 1966 at Plain City Methodist Church; her daughters, Kristin (Richard) Baird of Columbus and Ashley Kessler of Marysville; her grandchildren, Kelsey (Luke) Ahern, Luke (Micah) Sargent-Baird, Nick (Alex) Baird, Kloey (Nick “Nicky P” Perez) Baird, and Greyson (Aniston Kelley) Hall; her great-grandchildren, KJ, Zay, Hadley Rose, Lincoln; her nieces and nephews Kim Reece, David Reece, Jerry Yantes, Cheryl Alavi, Vicky Gardner, Bobby Baird; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery on Raymond Road. Pastor Mark Miller will officiate.
