Gerold E. “Jerry” Fogle, 91, of Dublin, passed away peacefully, early Friday morning, February 23, 2024, at Kobacker House in Columbus.
One of eight children, Jerry was born in Columbus to the late Gerold O. “Bus” and LaJune Fogle. A graduate of Broadway High School, he went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. While stationed in Charleston, he was set up on a blind date with a young lady named Barbara Howard, by her sister, Lila, and they instantly became an item. They soon married, and shared over 40 years of love, laughter, and family before she passed away on January 18, 1995.
Incredibly smart, Jerry worked as an IT professional for SCOA before becoming a driver for Crown Cars in Dublin. A jack of all trades, he was a snowplowing, lawn mowing, tractor loving man who not only had to have his yard mowed “just right,” but who also won the tractor rodeo in the early 1950’s. A lover of horses, he was a former member of the Ohio Quarter Horse Association, and he spent many years helping run the Ohio Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus. He held a great love for fishing, and their family fishing trips extended from as close as Kentucky, to as far away as out west and Canada. Ornery and a jokester, Jerry was very sarcastic, but he also held a heart of gold. Everyone always seemed to talk so well of him, and he absolutely adored his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his cat, Buddy, whom he treated like one of his kids.
He is survived by his children, Caryn Fogle of Dublin, and Brad (Grace) Fogle of Indian Lake; beloved grandchildren Maria (Doyle) Helton and Joe (MaKayla) Fogle; cherished great grandchildren Brandon, DJ, and Brylee; sister Mary Ann Winkle; sister-in-law Marilyn Fogle; numerous nieces, nephews, and longtime close friends.
Along with his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by 3 infant siblings, brothers Philip, Richard, and Carroll Fogle; sisters-in-law Laura and June Fogle; and brother-in-law John Winkle.
Funeral services to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held 11 am Friday, March 1, 2024, at Ingram Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville, with Rev. James Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Broadway Cemetery next to his wife, Barbara, where the Union County Honor Guard will provide full military honors. Friends may call 1 hour prior to service time, beginning at 10 am at the funeral home.
