Grant M. Ashburn, 82, of Delaware, formerly of Columbus, died Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Delaware Court in Delaware.
He retired as safety officer from Owens Illinois after working in fire prevention for 48 years. He was known as a devoted associate for the company and gave long hours toward his duties.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Marysville and enjoyed handywork and home repair. He was known for taking immaculate care of his belongings, especially his 1966 Ford Country Squire station wagon. He will be remembered as an unbelievably hard worker and dedicated family man.
He was born on Sept. 12, 1934, in Newark, to the late Samuel and Evelyn McIntyre Ashburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Fern, and brothers-in-law, Clarence Koehler and Paul Koehler.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Evajean Koehler Ashburn, whom he married July 20, 1954, in Woodsfield; children, Mike (Carrie) Ashburn of Ostrander, Deb (Pat) Macklin of Ostrander, Jeff (Valorie) Ashburn of Columbus, Diane (Dennis) Rodgers of Lithopolis and Linda (Chris) Frommeyer of Maineville; grandchildren, Taylor Foster, Evan Ashburn, Mitchell Ashburn, Willie Ashburn, Robbie Ashburn, Timmy Ashburn, Danielle Macklin, Nick Macklin, Ben Mackin, Ryan (Beth) Rodgers, Megan Rodgers, Samantha (Brandon) Horsley, Layla Frommeyer and Mia Frommeyer; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Grant, Peyton, Reese and Kennedy; siblings, Sammy Ashburn, Glenn (Ruby) Ashburn, Frank Ashburn and Sandy Heise; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Dale) Kilburn and Beulah Koehler; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens in Canal Winchester. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.underwoodfuneralhome.com.
