Harold L. “Jim” Howard, 87, of Marysville died Monday evening April 13 at his home following an extended illness with his family at his side.
He was a 1950 graduate of Marysville High School and, following graduation, went on to work at Siemens Electronics, locally known as Bulldog Electric and retired after 28 years. During this time, he met his loving wife, Mary.
He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to everyone.
He enjoyed Ohio State Football and knew all the players and their stats. He also enjoyed Western movies, gardening with his son, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.
He coached the Dairy Queen baseball team for many years and, in his past time, enjoyed bowling with his son Tim in a bowling league. Also with Tim, he was a member of the Marysville Moose Lodge #1651.
A longtime member of the Marysville First United Methodist Church, he was also the Sunday School treasurer for many years. He was not only a dedicated church member, but also a strong and faithful servant of God.
He was born June 22, 1932 in Marysville to the late Riley and Susan Justice Howard. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Sanderson; a sister, Kathryn Edwards; brothers, John Howard and Russell Howard.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, the former Mary E. McLaughlin; their four children, Becky (Gary) Brackney, Tami (Dennie) Atzenhoefer both of Galloway, Angela (Kris) Rogers of Rushylvania and Timothy (Mary Blankenship) Howard of Cable; nine grandchildren, Airen, Ryan, Sara, Kristen, Andy, Amanda, Addie, Alex and A.J.; seven great-grandchildren, Alli, Aricin, Leo, Ryleigh, Avery, Chanie and Ayla; eight step-grandchildren, James Jr., Jayson, Emilee, Derrick Jr., Jaylin, Zaniyah, Amorah and Amari; and a brother, Donald “Ted” Howard.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date. Ingram Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
In his memory, contributions may be made to the Marysville First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
