Ila L. LaRue, 86, of Marysville, formerly of Richwood, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Bluebird Retirement Community in Marysville.
She graduated as salutatorian from Richwood High School in 1948. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Richwood, American Legion Auxiliary in Richwood, the former Chapter 42 Order of the Eastern Star in Richwood and the Carpe Diem Club. She had a passion for genealogy. She worked for many years for the Harding Hotel and the Holiday Inn in Marion, as well as the El Cortez Hotel in California.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1930, in Richwood, to the late Tom and Dolly (Hook) Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billie G. LaRue, whom she married on Nov. 5, 1977, and who died in October, 1983; son, Theodore Reynolds; sister, Sandra Buckley; and brother, William Brown.
She is survived by her son, Thomas (Candace) Reynolds of New Bloomington; daughter-in-law, Trish Reynolds of Galloway; grandchildren, Anthony (Karen) Reynolds, Jason (Kim) Reynolds and Betsy (John) Trouten; great-grandchildren, Jacob Reynolds, Tatem Reynolds, Jayden Reynolds, Faith Trouten and Noah Trouten; special friend, Wayne Reynolds Sr. of Sparta; brothers, Danny Brown of Prospect and Carroll (Betty) Brown of Radnor; and sister, Ruth (James) Miller of Hawaii.
The Rev. Lucian Baker will officiate memorial services Monday, July 3, 2017, at 7 p.m., at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 6 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date at Claibourne Cemetery.
