Jacob R. “Jake” Allison, 79, of Claiborne, died early Wednesday morning, Aug. 23, 2017, at Prestige Gardens in Marysville.
He was known to spoil all the children in Claiborne with candy. He enjoyed working on bicycles and sitting on his porch, especially with his good friend, Cuzzy Mayberry. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a very active and faithful member of Claiborne Advent Christian Church. He worked for O. M. Scott & Sons in Marysville for 34 years before retiring in 1992. He also worked at the REAP food pantry in Richwood.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1937, in New Cumberland, West Virginia, to the late Harry L. Sr. and Goldie (Tillis) Allison. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Harry L. Allison Jr., and sisters, Mary Galloway, Clarice Diaz and Sally Pasco.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Witt) Allison, whom he married on May 6, 1959, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marysville, and who survives in Claiborne; sons, Dean Allison and Steve (Regina) Allison, both of Richwood; sisters, Waunna Galloway of Marysville and Norma (Albert) Still of New Cumberland, West Virginia; grandchildren, Amber (Dustin) Boes and Tyler (Samantha) Allison; great-grandchildren, Adrienne Snyder, Kirra Boes and Wyatt Andrew Jacob Allison; and several nieces and nephews.
The Revs. Danny Grose and Scott Stillings will officiate funeral services Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, in Richwood. Burial will follow at Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home in Richwood.
