James “Jim” F. Robinson, 94, passed away peacefully, early Thursday morning, April 18, 2024, at Monarch Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Marysville after months of failing health.
The middle child of five siblings, Jim was born January 13, 1930, in Franklin, Ohio, to the late Charles A. and Mary E. (Hildebrand) Robinson. A 1948 graduate of Springboro High School, Jim then began his military service in the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged, he met and fell in love with the former Joan Herkins, and they married November 15, 1959, spending 64 years of love, family, and friendship together.
Relocating to the Marysville area, Jim began his own business, Robinson Distributors. A huge sports enthusiast, baseball was his favorite game, and in his younger years he loved to play fast pitch softball and coach the Marysville Little League. He certainly loved the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, and the Cleveland Browns. While he was somewhat reserved, Jim was certainly ornery and had a good sense of humor. As he began his retirement, he and Joan became Snowbirds and enjoyed their winters down in Florida.
Jim is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Joan; their children Craig (Susan) Robinson of Westerville, Scott (Elizabeth) Robinson of Columbus, and Karen (Keith) Benedict of Plain City; grandchildren Danielle Benedict and Dylan (Rachel) Benedict; great grandchild Blair Benedict; sisters-in-law Pat Holtzapple and Camilla Herkins; brother-in-law Bill (Lori) Herkins; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Along with his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by an infant son, Greg; siblings Bill Robinson, Emma Ann Cremonese, John Robinson, and Nancy Shute; and a brother-in-law Robert Herkins.
Private family services will be held. Ingram Funeral Home is honored to serve Jim’s family, and condolences may be expressed to them at www.IngramFuneralService.com.
