James S. Herold, 57, of Marysville, died Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus with his loving wife by his side.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed playing board games, especially Monopoly. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, whether it was spoiling them or tormenting them.
He worked at O’Reilly Auto Parts in Marysville, was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Born June 26, 1962, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of William and Adele (Muto) Herold and his father preceded him in death.
On Sept. 18, 1999, in Houston, Texas, he married Mary Staub and she survives in Marysville. He is also survived by his mother in Houston; his children, Robert (Amber) Sexton of Marion, Amanda (Drew) Ambos of Marysville, Christopher (Atania) Sexton of Hilliard and Joshua (Tiffany) Sexton of Columbus; grandchildren, Abby, Zane, Victoria, Madison, Shelby, Jayden, Carter, Ethan, Aidan, Phoebe and Killian; a brother, Bill Herold of Houston, a nephew, Billy Herold; a great-niece and nephew, Luca and Alexis, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. The Rev. Kevin Kavanagh will officiate and burial will follow at a later date in Houston. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service on Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Building Fund and envelopes will be available at the church.
