Jeannie Anne (Kruse) Pape, 53, of Brookings, SD, formerly of Aurora, CO, and Marysville, OH, died Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, after a brief illness. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Jeannie was born on July 28, 1970, in Indianapolis, IN to Thomas and Mary Anne (Steinhauer) Kruse. She grew up in Marysville, OH, where she was a 1988 graduate of Marysville High School. In her youth, Jeannie was an exceptional athlete and loved all sports. She especially loved softball and was named to the All-Ohio Softball Team in 1988.
Jeannie spent most of her career in the restaurant and hospitality industry. She enjoyed working with people. She never met a stranger; she always had a kind word and a smile for everyone she met. Jeannie was a passionate fan of Ohio State football and no matter where she lived, she never forgot her Ohio roots. She was a fantastic decorator, an accomplished cook, and she enjoyed cooking and baking for her friends and family. She was an animal lover, showering much love on her cats, Socks, Princess, and Moxie, and her dog, Curly Sue.
Grateful for sharing her life are husband, Joel Pape; children, Casey Shull and Zack Shull; daughter-in-law, Caro Hasse; grandson, Lucas Shull; siblings, Theresa (Scott) Scheiderer of Marysville, OH, Thomas (Susan) Kruse of Scottsdale, AZ, John Kruse of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Ashley Sinclair of Marysville, OH; nieces and nephews, Juliana Scheiderer, Jack Scheiderer, Nolan Kruse, Mallory Kruse, Claire Kruse, Brianna Kruse, Gabe Kruse, Thad Kruse, and Lydia Kruse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas, and Mary Anne Kruse.
