John Otto Elliott, 86, of Woodstock passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 surrounded by his loving family in Memorial Hospital, Marysville, Ohio.
John was born on April 14, 1937, in Milford Center, Ohio to the late Arthur and Edna (Clark) Elliott.
A graduate of the 1955 class of Wayne-Woodstock High School, John would go on to retire from Navistar after 34 years of service. In his free time, John was a member of the Middletown Church of God, as well as a former member of the Cardinal Squares Dance Club and a member of the UAW Local 402 in Springfield, Ohio.
John was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed refinishing furniture, and loved going to flea markets where he was an avid collector of Coca-Cola and RCA memorabilia as well as vinyl records. He also enjoyed attending Jim Greer & the Mac-o-Chee Valley Folks concerts, and especially spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
John is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, and high school sweetheart whom he met when he was in 2nd grade and she was in the 1st grade, Barbara (Crabtree) Elliott; sons, Gary (Paula) Elliott and Roger (Penny) Elliott; grandchildren, Evan (Hannah) Elliott, Ethan (Mallory) Elliott, Ashley (Robert) Speakman, and Marcus (Trisha) Elliott; great-grandchildren, Reese, Evie, Lincoln, and Elisha Elliott; sister-in-law, Miriam Elliott; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lowell Elliott; sister, Ila Jean (Jim) Fowler; and niece, Toni Petty.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00AM to 1:00PM on Thursday, February 8, 2024, in SKILLMAN-MCDONALD-VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
Funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00PM in the funeral home with Pastor John Instine officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodstock Cemetery.
