Joyce L. Leslein Starling, age 79, of Marysville, formerly of Delaware, died Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Walnut Crossing Senior Living with family by her side.
She was a retired associate of Auto Warehousing at the East Liberty Honda plant where she assigned the Honda cars to the trains and trucks for shipping. She previously worked for Ohio Bell where she was a group chief operator. She was a 1963 graduate of South High School in Columbus.
Joyce’s first love was her family who will miss her very much. An animal lover who rescued many dogs and cats, she will be missed by her Bichon “Archie.”
Joyce enjoyed sewing and made clothes for her three children when they were young. She was known as the “cookie lady” to the baseball players that her husband, Ed, coached at Delaware Hayes and Marysville High Schools. Joyce would make cookies or other treats for the players to eat on the way home from away games.
She was born April 1, 1945 in Columbus to the late Robert and Josephine (Reuss) Leslein. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Mike Huffenberger.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ed Starling, whom she married November 30, 1968 in Delaware, Ohio; her three children, Andy Starling of Tampa, Florida, Amy (Jimmy) Jordan of Scottsdale, Arizona and Ali (Keith) Bayliss of West Mansfield; a granddaughter, Kasi; a grandson, Kameron; a brother, Don (Cheryl) Leslein of Ashville, Ohio; a sister, Linda Huffenberger of Florida; a sister-in-law, Judy Starling of San Mateo, California; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will hold private services. Underwood Funeral Home is honored to serve and assist the family.
