Lee Goodwin, 78, of Byhalia died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, Sept. 25, 2019 at Memorial Hospital following months of failing health.
He was a 1959 graduate of Byhalia High School and took pride in having only missed one day of school during those years. An athlete in earlier years, he enjoyed playing basketball and did so in an independent basketball league.
He was a former farmer, was employed at O.M. Scott and Sons and in later years enjoyed landscaping and mowing yards.
He was an accomplished artist who made stained glass windows, decorations and lamps. Some of his windows are displayed in local church windows.
He was also a member of the West Mansfield Lions Club and, in his spare time, crocheted hundreds of blankets that are cherished by family and friends.
He was born Aug. 19, 1941 in York Center to the late Donald R. and Marie Flickinger Goodwin. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Courtney Goodwin; brothers, Edgar, Floyd, Don, Russell and Truman Goodwin; and a sister, Sara Nicol.
He is survived by his children, Chris A. (Laura) Goodwin of Marion, Robin (Ray) Banks of West Mansfield, Kevin L. (Amy) Goodwin of East Liberty; grandchildren, Joy (Nate) Rumble, Seth Goodwin, Jessica (Aaron) Ray, Jonathan Banks, Amanda Goodwin and her fiancé Tyler Sheffield and Olivia (Gary) Yoakum; great-grandchildren, Cayden and Brelynn; siblings, Ruth Goodwin of Huntsville, Sue Childer of Columbus, John (Barbara) Goodwin of Florida, Jim (Karla) Goodwin of Richwood, Steve (Karen) Goodwin of West Mansfield, Art (Janet) Goodwin of Circleville and Alice (Brian) Meadows of Huntsville; a brother-in-law, Bill Nicol of Marysville; sisters-in-law, Sarah Ellen Goodwin, Linda Goodwin, Jane Goodwin and Beverly Nutter; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Ingram Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Carl Redding will officiate with burial to follow at York Center Cemetery.
In his memory, contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
