Leonard C. James, 83, of Marysville, died on Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Memorial Gables.
He retired in 1979 after 26 years with Seimans as a foreman and was a lifelong farmer on the family farm. He enjoyed farming and word search puzzles.
He was born July 21, 1935, in Rushsylvania, the son of the late John F. and Carrie Edna (Yoakam) James.
He is survived by his sons, Scott (Janet) James, Gary (Sharon) James, and Stephan “Butch” (Trish) James, all of Marysville; his grandchildren, Stephaine James, Jeff and Kathryn James, Amara, Chris, Alana, Avery and Claire, Gary James Jr., Melissa and Greg Ray, Ian, Kason and Karter; Cierra James and Brett Meadows, and Tyler James and Zoey Little; his brother, Harold James of Bellefontaine; his sister, Gracie Bolick of Bellefontaine and his best friend, his German Shepard, Billy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Elaine (Stembel) James; his son, Jeffery Lynn James; his brothers, Everett “Jess” James, Clair Andrew James, Willis Robert James, and Donald Lewis James; his sisters, Marguerite James, Virginia Yoder, and Annabelle Sanders; and his half-brother, John Augustus James.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Livingston officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg.
