Loran D. Eastman, 83, of Marysville, died peacefully Monday morning, March 4, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He retired from working at the City of Marysville’s water department, where he worked as a meter reader, serviceman and in the treatment facility for more than 33 years. He also worked for the Erie Lackawanna railroad for 10 years.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he attended Living Waters Church of God. He was an avid fisherman and always had a good story to tell. He enjoyed watching railroad videos, Sunday naps after church and a good meal. He was a member of the Young at Heart senior group, the Heart of Ohio Fish and Game Association and was a charter member of the Marion Union Station Association.
He was born April 29, 1935, in Larue, to the late Thelma C. Eastman. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Allysa Harrison.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Ruth A. (Dana) Eastman, whom he married Aug. 6, 1959, in Greenup, Kentucky; children, Mark (Debby) Eastman of Marysville, Lanita (C.J.) Gaul of Marysville and Lorinna (Russ) Hawkins of East Liberty; grandchildren, Josh (Allison) Eastman, Melanie (Mike) Arnold, Brandie (Jason) Cozad, Stephanie (Chris) McCullough, Brittany (Dave) Watkins, Russell T. Hawkins, Joshua Gaul, Weston (Jilisha) Gaul, Allaura Harrison and Dominic (Madison) Harrison; 18 great-grandchildren; and special family member and lifelong friend, Shari Schalip.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. The Rev. Mike Roerhenbeck will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Marion Union Station Association, Loving Care Hospice or Living Waters Church of God in care of the funeral home.
