Lowan Grooms, 68, of Gardendale, Alabama, died March 8, 2018, in Birmingham, Alabama.
He was a graduate of Marysville High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1974 to 1978. He enjoyed flying and sailing, as he used to fly his own plane and sail his own boat. Recently, he took up flying model planes. He will be remembered for his wit and his “Mark Twain” sense of humor.
He was born May 6, 1949, in Bellefontaine, to the late Albert and Jean Grooms of Raymond.
He is survived by his sisters, Connie Knox of Columbus, Laura Baker of Emigrant, Montana and Barbara Gendrich of Gardendale; uncle, Fahy Mullaney of Virginia; and seven nieces and nephews.
Private memorial services are pending with the family.
