Lurene Anna Mary Brown, 96, of Marysville, died peacefully Saturday morning, Aug. 5, 2017, at her home on her farm with her loving children by her side.
She spent her entire life on a farm, as she was born and grew up on a farm, married a farmer, raised her children on a farm and died on a farm. Over the years, she enjoyed driving her tractor, bottle-feeding her lambs and tending to her garden.
A woman of strong faith, she grew up at St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was baptized July 24, 1921, by the Rev. H.C. Keuckle, and confirmed on April 14, 1935, by the Rev. August Gerken. She became a faithful member of the First English Lutheran Church of Marysville, where she was the eldest disciple. She was a 1939 graduate of New California High School.
She was born on July 12, 1921, on a farm in Plain City, to the late Walter and Winna (Rausch) Geer. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death her husband, Luther Brown, whom she married Aug. 20, 1944, and who died Jan. 25, 1993, and by a brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Phyllis Geer.
She is survived by her children, Lois and David Brown of Marysville; faithful companion, Queenie; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her church family.
The Rev. Tonya Brittain will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First English Lutheran Church of Marysville. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery next to her husband. Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
