Marjorie F. (Adams) McCreary, 91, of Plain City, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, at Memorial Gables.

A women of faith, she was a member of the Big Darby Baptist Church of Plain City. She was actively involved in church functions and was pianist for her church family for many years.

As a young girl, she enjoyed spending time at her grandparent’s home and the love she shared with her aunts, uncles and cousins. She worked at the Plain City Drug Store, behind the soda counter.

After graduation she began her career as a legal secretary and retired from the law office of Gilbert & Kirby, which became the law office of John Houchard.

The daughter of the late Simeon and Florence  (Hawes)  Adams,  she was born May 16, 1928, in Lena, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband of 37 years, James I. McCreary in 2010; her eldest son, Chris, who died March 8, 1958, of Luekemia; step-son, Jimmy McCreary; and her adopted granddaughter, Lamphenh.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffery  (Cheryl)  Brown of East Liberty and Rod Brown of Plain City; brother Phil  (Carolyn)  Adams; niece Gail  Adams; nephew, Eric  (Cindy)  Adams; four step-children,  Jeff,  Joe (Vera),  and  John (Lori)  McCreary  and  Joyce (Dan) Bushong; her adopted granddaughter, Lamphao  and  her family, Justin,  Lila  and   Nicolas. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive along with her loving church family.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.  Tuesday, at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St., Plain City, where a Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Eric Swenson officiating.
