VINSON
—
Martha Elizabeth (Fyffe) Vinson, 76, of Zanesfield, died Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Memorial Gables, surrounded by her family and friends after a long battle with kidney and liver disease.
She retired from the Scioto Juvenile Correctional Facility, in Rathbone, after 32 years of mentoring youths as a corrections officer.
A longtime resident of Union and Logan counties, she enjoyed her English bulldog, Mr. T, playing bingo, putting puzzles together, crocheting and shopping at the local Goodwill store. She could not pass a yard sale without stopping to look. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was born Dec. 27, 1941, in Ross County, to the late Theodore R. and Maybel (Speakman) Fyffe. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Vinson Sr., whom she married Nov. 20, 1958, in Chillicothe, and who died Dec. 9, 2011.
She is survived by her four children, Adam S. (Lora) Vinson of Marysville, Brenda (Brian) Fout of West Mansfield, Donald J. (Patience Thornberg) Vinson Jr. of Zanesfield and Terry J. (Stacey) Vinson of Cardington; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Adams of Waverly and Grace Lyons of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. The Rev. John Ramsey will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery next to her husband.
