Mary E. Godwin, 86, of Marysville, died early Wednesday morning, July 17, 2019 at Memorial Gables following many months of failing health.
A longtime member of the Marysville Christian Church, she enjoyed going to church and carried a deep faith. In many ways she was a giver, and would give the shirt off her back to anyone who would need it. She always wore a smile and never knew a stranger. She had an easygoing, engaging personality and was a great listener to anyone she talked with. In her spare time, she liked to camp and do word search puzzles. In her earlier years, she enjoyed going with her family to car races and being a “snowbird” in Florida with her husband, Louie.
She was born Aug. 24, 1932 in Logan County to the late Harvey and Mina Bixter Amerine. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harry L. “Louie” Godwin, her second husband, Arthur Sedgwick and all of her siblings.
She is survived by her children David L. (Patti) Godwin, Evelyn M. Payne and Floyd E. (Cleo) Godwin; seven grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; and several extended family members.
Calling hours will be held 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the Marysville Christian Church, 17000 Waldo Road, where funeral services will begin at 5 p.m. with Pastor Ed Beeson officiating. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Huntsville Cemetery. Ingram Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
