Mary E. Howard, 93, of Marysville, died Friday evening, Aug. 18, 2017, at Memorial Gables after years of failing health.
When her health permitted, she attended Living Waters Church. She was a person of strong faith who enjoyed reading and studying her Bible. She was an avid quilter and craft maker. She and her husband started a family on their farm, and she enjoyed tending to the livestock while he was at work. She had an extensive flower and vegetable garden and, while in season, sold produce that was raised on the farm.
She was born on Jan. 24, 1924, in Kenwood, Kentucky, to the late Paris and Elvira McKenzie McCarty. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ted D. Howard, whom she married on Sept. 27, 1939, and who died on Sept. 6, 1994; son-in-law; Bob McKay; daughter-in-law, Sandy Howard; grandsons, Eric Howard and Matthew McKenzie Howard; and great-grandson, Zachary Wilson.
She is survived by her children, Ted Howard, Frank (Angie) Howard, John (Lisa) Howard, Jane (Paul) Slaughter, all of Marysville, and Charlene McKay of Dublin; grandchildren, Greg (Saundra) Howard, Beth Feenstra, Chad (Rachel) Howard, Samantha (Chad) Sloan, Abby (Dan) Larimore, Niki McKay, Derek Howard, Zachery (Elizabeth) Howard, Andrew Howard, Skye Howard, Justin Howard, Allison Wilson, Pete (Tracy) Slaughter and Britini Slaughter; granddaughter-in law, Stephanie Howard; and many great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ingram Funeral Home, where Angie Howard will officiate funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow at Watkins Cemetery.
