Mary L. Jones, 84, of Marysville, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at Bluebird Retirement Community with her loving sons at her side.
A devoted and loving mother, she was also very proud to be called a “military mom” due to all three of her sons enlisting to serve their country. In her younger years, she served in Civitan and Community Action groups, receiving a commendation from the Ohio House of Representatives for her community service. She was a faithful member of First English Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, winning blue ribbons at the fair for her afghan blankets and quilts. A 1952 graduate of Frank B. Willis High School in Delaware, she worked as a community relations representative with Columbia Gas for 25 years and retired in 1997.
She was born July 16, 1934, in Delaware, to the late Glenn and Ada (McConnell) Kelley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, David Jones, sister, Betty Camp and brother-in-law, Bill Kirkpatrick.
She is survived by her sons, Tom (Rhonda) Jones of Marysville, Donald (Lisa) Jones of Rushsylvania and Rod (Candy) Jones of Delaware; grandchildren, Heather Jones, Kevin Buettner, Jarrod Jones and Ethan Jones; sister, Alice Kirkpatrick of Delaware; and brother-in-law, Ed Camp.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to the time of service at 1 p.m. Friday, at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. The Rev. Tonya Brittain will officiate a funeral service and burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Delaware.
