Merritt “Mark” Wilson, age 64, of Marysville, died peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Marysville following an extended illness.
On April 14, 1959, Mark was born in Marysville, Ohio, the youngest of four children of the late Ralph “R.E.” and Marilyn Jean (Sharf) Wilson. He graduated from Marysville High School.
For the majority of his career, Mark was his father’s right-hand man at Wilson Construction. He specialized in masonry work for his father. He also was a member of the Marysville Eagles Lodge 3506.
A skilled wood carver, Mark could carve anything from wood he put his mind to, and he especially enjoyed carving animals. Throughout his life, he loved everything regarding Native American culture, and he even carved an Indian from wood. He also loved reading and watching Westerns, and putting together puzzles with his longtime companion, Donna.
An animal lover, Mark cherished his canine companion, Rascal.
Mark was a good man, and an especially good father, uncle, and friend. He was loved by many.
He will be missed by his daughter, Melissa Wilson of Elida; four grandchildren: Tylar, Ruby Jean, Alle, and Bentlee; a sister, Stephanie (Delmar) Cook of Marysville; several nieces and nephews; and his former spouse, Anna Wilson.
Including his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his son Mark “Allen” Wilson; his longtime companion, Donna Stanley; and two brothers: Jack and Rex Wilson.
A service to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Union County Humane Society and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
