CMDR Michael Madison Lucas Sr. USNR-R age 78 of Columbus, OH died in the early morning of Mon. November 20th 2023 at Grant Hospital of Columbus after suffering a collapse from a sudden inoperable brain hemorrhage in his home. Born on January 9th, 1945 in Bellefontaine, OH he was the son of Albert Lemuel Lucas and Inez Jean Sabins. He was married on December 7th, 1963 (on Pearl Harbor Day so he would ‘never forget’ his anniversary) to Sharon Maurene Poast in Bowling Green, OH and together they shared 59 years of marriage. Michael is survived by his wife Sharon; two sons Michael Madison Jr. and R. Samuel and grandson Liam Maxwell Lucas. He is also survived by his sister Judy Payne and half-brother Earl Geho. He was preceded in death by his father Albert and mother Jean as well as his brother William and half-sister Kathy Martin. Michael enlisted in the Navy in 1963 for four years of Active Duty to pay for his college tuition. He eventually retired in 1991 as a Commander in the United States Naval Reserves. He Graduated from OSU in 1970 with a degree in Business Administration, and worked for the State of Ohio for 29 years as a Business Enterprise Specialist at OPI (Ohio Penal Industries). Michael was hardworking and stoic to the last. A dedicated and loving husband and father and a very proud grandfather. His quick wit and easy charm will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him well.
