A vibrant woman, who loves color and flare, Patricia A. “Pat” Wilson, died on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the OSU Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was 72 years old and of Marysville.
On March 10, 1951, Pat was born in Delaware, Ohio, the fourth of eight children of the late Marion “Vince” Vincent and Lela Josephine (Fawn) Vincent Clapham. She was raised in Magnetic Springs and attended North Union Schools.
Growing up, Pat would baby sit for families in the neighborhood. While she was babysitting for the Wilson family, she met a brother in the family, Wendell Wilson, and from there the rest is history. Pat and Wendell fell head over heels for one another, and got married on April 8, 1968. Together they shared fifty five loving years of marriage.
In addition to caring for her husband and their three children, Pat worked as a press operator at Deck Right in Marysville. Next, she was a horticulture assistant at Custer’s Green House. Lastly, she worked for UCO Industries, helping to stock the assembly line, until she left to focus on her health after her second bout with cancer in 2019.
Having a green thumb, Pat could work wonders, bringing color and life back into any and all plants and flowers. She loved tending to her flower gardens every year, and watching the birds who would come and visit, always hoping for a red cardinal to grace her presence. She had a fun garden gnome collection throughout her garden. She loved visiting her brother, Vince, enjoying the beauty of the ocean and the peaceful sound of the waves in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. She also loved anything bright, bold and colorful, and especially loved anything tye-dye.
Most important of all to Pat was her family and she was the glue that held everyone together. She always looked out for everyone and put their needs before her own. She cherished every moment spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Pat was special in so many ways and for so many reasons. She will be missed for her bubbly, fun-loving and positive personality. She had a heart of gold, and would always steer you in the right direction with her wisdom. She also had an ornery and feisty streak in her, but she would still give you the shirt off of her back if you needed anything.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Wendell Wilson of Marysville; three children: Pamela (Richard “Chip”) Johnson of Kenton, W. Scott (Judi) Wilson of Mechanicsburg, and Lea (Eddie) Andrews of Marysville; 12 grandchildren: Ashley, Beth, Dustin, Brandon, Travis, Dennis, Draven, Jaden, Brooke (Zac), Courtney, Shawn (Bailey), and Stephanie; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild on the way; 6 siblings: Marilyn “Dutch” Chapman of Galipolis, Carolyn Jean “C.J.” Burk of Lakeview, James (Janice) Vincent of Urbana, Marvin “Vince” Vincent of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Rex Vincent of Richwood, and Marjorie Merchant of Tyler, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her step-father, Herman Clapham; and two brothers: Marion “Butch” Vincent and W. Michael Vincent.
Her family will greet friends from 4 – 7 pm on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Ingram Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville. A fun and uplifting celebration of her life will also be held there at 11 am on Tuesday, with Celebrant Mark Schuring officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery in Marysville. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to wear anything tye-dye or anything bright, bold and colorful to Pat’s services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Union County Cancer Society, PO Box 557, Marysville, OH 43040.
