Penny Sue Griffith, age 78, of Richwood, died peacefully Saturday, February 10, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Richwood.
A graduate of Fairbanks High School, she was a retired machinist from Parker Hannifin in Marysville after working there for almost 30 years. She and her late husband, Kenny, raised a large vegetable and flower garden for many years. She canned most of the produce and the family sold a large portion of the harvest during the summers.
She and Kenny also enjoyed Indian Lake most weekends at Turkey Foot campgrounds and on their boat. They liked attending the Kenton National Field Trials and other coon dog trials around the country where they received numerous awards and recognitions through the years.
Penny enjoyed her pet parrot, “Baby” and her canine companion, “Sunshine.” She was a big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.
She was fast in the kitchen, a great cook- especially fried green tomatoes – and was known for her kindness and hospitality in feeding family, friends and guests. Penny cherished people around her and liked having a good time. She loved her family passionately.
She was born August 25, 1945 in Columbus to the late Donald Eugene and Inez Davis Boyer. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Robert Kenneth “Kenny” Griffith; her daughter, Holly Marie Griffith; her brother, Mark Boyer; and a grand son-in-law, Tito Kpabe.
She is survived by her children, Kendra Griffith of Bellefontaine, Jackie (John “Squat” Harvey) Haynes of Richwood, Eric Griffith of Richwood and Aaron (Ashley) Griffith of Milford Center; her grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher, Quinten, Danielle, Ethan, Kaylee, Tiffany, Tamara, Ashton and Bryson; several great-grandchildren; her siblings, Steve (Leah) Boyer, Rhonda (Keith) Mulkey and Donnie (Kay) Boyer; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including Deb Kelsey and Mark Lowery.
The family will hold private services at a later date.
