Peter “Pete” Clayton Harbold, 83, of Dawn Drive in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, died of natural causes at 4:19 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
He worked as a quality control manager from Thomas Industries, and retired from there. He was a realtor for Robin Ray Realty and worked at Lewis Bakery. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and served in the United States Army. He signed with the Philadelphia Athletics the day he graduated from high school and was assigned to the Hoppers.
He was born March 23, 1935, in Columbus, to the late Walter and Martha Longbrake Harbold. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Gene Harbold and James Harbold.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Harbold; sons, Mike (Michelle) Harbold, Tony (Cathy) Harbold and Kent (Lisa) Harbold, all of Hopkinsville; brother, George Harbold of Marysville; sisters, Janet Harbold of Marysville and Sally Wakefield of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; grandchildren, Nick Harbold, Lance Harbold, John Clayton Harbold, Stacey Harbold, Toni Lynn Harbold, Josh Harbold, Eric Hamilton and Brad Hamilton; and great-grandchildren, Libby Harbold, Zoey Harbold, Conner Harbold, Max Harbold, Jordan Irby, Bryson, Irby, Tucker Harbold and Colson Hayes Harbold.
The Rev. David Tucker officiated funeral services at 10 a.m. today at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. Burial followed in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
