Phillip Edwin Scott, 81, of Plain City, died on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021, at his home with his wife, Susan.
He was a 1958 graduate of Dublin High School. He earned his Bachelors and Masters in Education at The Ohio State University.
As a school psychologist, he worked for Southwestern, Grandview and Worthington school districts, where he always saw the best in people. After his retirement, he worked on the family farm with his brothers.
He attended every home OSU football game from 1958 until just a few years ago. He traveled to most of the Big 10 schools, three Rose Bowls and several Big 10 Championship games to watch his beloved Buckeyes.
A loving father, he and his wife devoted their lives to their children. As a grandfather, he rarely missed being a spectator at his grandchildren’s events.
He was born Jan. 9, 1940, in Bellefontaine to the late John and Virginia (Hollister) Scott. He grew up on the family farm in Union County.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth and David; sister-in-law, Carol and their son, Christopher.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Susan (Halliday) Scott, whom he married on Dec. 26, 1965; children, Geoffrey P. (Kristin) Scott, Dr. Mary Beth Scott, Brian E. Scott; grandchildren, David, John, and Lauren of Worthington and Phillip, Harrison, and Susannah of Plain City; brother, Jerry L. (Judy) Scott; special cousins including, Bill (Betty) Pabst; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7 at his home. In lieu of flowers, in the his honor, please slow down a bit today and take time to make a real connection with those you encounter. This was his specialty and for which he will be remembered.
