Ralph L. Orahood, 85, of Cable, died Friday, July 28, 2017, at Mercy Memorial Hospital, in Urbana.
He was a graduate of North Lewisburg High School and a member of Kennard Church of the Nazarene, where he enjoyed serving the Lord. He retired from Siemens Energy & Automation in Urbana and, after retirement, worked at Champaign Landmark – Heritage Cooperative. He enjoyed farming and traveling to Holmes County. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was born on April 27, 1932, in North Lewisburg, to the late Perry and Helen (Guy) Orahood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Leopard) Orahood; grandson, Nicholas Orahood; and siblings, Raymond Orahood, Ivalou Carter and Ruth Hildreth.
He is survived by his children, Mildred (James) Gebele, David (Matilda) Orahood and John (Carla) Orahood; grandchildren, Benjie, Chat, Amy, Jimmy and Darci; great-grandchildren, Jason, Zack, Dalton, Andrew, Emma and Zane; sister, Mary Lou Hildreth; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Mary Orahood.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, in North Lewisburg.
The Rev. Stephen Anstine will officiate funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kennard Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg. His pallbearers include his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chat, Benjie, Jason, Dalton, Zack, Todd and Ryan.
