Ralph “Wayne” Wood, 84, of Marysville and formerly Milford Center, died peacefully early Sunday morning, Aug. 26, 2018, at Bluebird Retirement Community with his loving family by his side.
A 1953 graduate of Union Rural High School, he retired from Westinghouse after 30 years in the industry. He held a deep appreciation for farming, and was a hard worker who built new homes and remodeled older homes with his sons. Committed to the Lord, he was a church elder at Church of Christ in Christian Union in Milford Center, and in later years became a member of Vineyard Church and Haven Community Church, both in Marysville.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he loved his family above all things. He enjoyed “aggravating” his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he shared many fond memories of vacationing with them in Tennessee over the years. He had a great sense of humor, but was also a very soft-hearted, generous man who would help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was born Jan. 5, 1934, in Irwin, to the late Ralph L. and Mary Herron Wood. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Bill Hix, Mary Jean Roberts, Vernon Wood, Willard Wood, June Hodge and Joan Moore; and infant granddaughters, Jessica Nicole Wood and Jennifer Marie Wood.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Nina M. Boggs, whom he married July 4, 1953, at her home in Rosedale; children, Steve (Colleen) Wood of Marysville and Jeff (Sherry) Wood of Milford Center; grandchildren, Amber (Jason) Jones, Angela (Bill) LeMasters and Jeff (Beverly) Wood; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jonathan Jones, Ali and Zackery LeMasters, Mason and Baily Schor, Trinity Bevins and Vann Rapier; sister, Minnie Roberts; sisters-in-law, Peggy Wood and Mary Hix; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Ingram Funeral Home. The Revs. Brian Brooks and Conrad Esh will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Milford Center Cemetery.
In his memory, memorial contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice, the Hope Center or to the Central Ohio Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home.
