Richard Dwight Thomas, 77, of Marysville, died Saturday morning, Dec. 15, 2018, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, surrounded by his family.
He formerly owned a business in Jackson before relocating to Marysville. A man of deep faith, he was a longtime member of Marysville Church of the Nazarene. He had a passion for old cars and watching sports, especially The Ohio State University Buckeyes. He was a caring and congenial man who was wild about his grandchildren, especially his granddaughter, Zuri.
He was born June 16, 1941, in Oak Hill, to the late Evan Dwight and Erma F. Smith Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, the former Karen G. Allen Spurlock, whom he married Dec. 6, 2003, at Marysville Church of the Nazarene; children, Bruce (Lisa) Spurlock, Polly (Kevin) Green and Dolly (Bryan) Wilson, all of Marysville; 37 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Donald Thomas of Oak Hill and Lowell Ray Thomas of Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
Calling hours will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Mills will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Marysville Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Milford Center Cemetery.
In his memory, contributions may be made to Marysville Church of the Nazarene Youth Group in care of the funeral home.
