Richard “Mike” Norman, 59, of Cable, died Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Springfield Regional Medical Center, with his wife by his side.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the 82nd Airborne Division. As a truck driver, he delivered thoroughbred horses for most of his life. In his later years, he worked as a welder. He enjoyed working and remodeling his home and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
He was born Aug. 6, 1958, in Dayton, to Richard and Pauline Norman of Springboro. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Norman, who died in October, 2008.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Ann (Dellinger) Norman, whom he married June 11, 2016, at their home in Cable; sons, James (Jessica) Norman of Columbus and Joe (Stephanie) Norman of Texas; stepsons, Steve (Trish) Dellinger of Milford Center and Ryan (fiancée Jessi Spencer) Hart of Dublin; grandchildren, Emma, Sophia, Theo, Oliver, Annabelle, Lily, Ava and Tommy; brother-in-law, Bill (Mandi) Dellinger of Plain City; and niece, Kristin.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. The Rev. Paul Schlueter will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery, where military rites will be observed by the U.S Army funeral detail.
