Robert E. Kirkpatrick, 83, of Marysville, died Wednesday evening, July 17, 2019 at The Ohio State Medical Center after a brief illness.
He worked at Tecumseh Products in Marion for over 22 years before working for and retiring from PPG in Delaware in 1999. He and his wife enjoyed 20 years of traveling to and from Florida as “snowbirds.” He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, wood carving, working in his woodshop and reading Westerns.
He was born May 20, 1936 to the late Arthur and Ramona (Reese) Kirkpatrick in Springfield. He graduated in 1954 from Leesburg-Magnetic School.
On April 8, 1962, he married Barbara “Ann” Nickel in the Epworth Methodist Church in Marion and she survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Scott O. (Wendy) Kirkpatrick of Hickory, North Carolina and a daughter, Kathryn A. Foster of Marysville. Also surviving are a brother, James A. Kirkpatrick of Russells Point, and a sister, Linda (Lawrence) Pitt of Rushsylvania. He was preceded in death by his youngest brother, Thomas E. (Marlene) Kirkpatrick.
Also surviving are, the light of his life, his four grandchildren: Patricia L. Kirkpatrick of Hickory, North Carolina; Tristan S. (Melissa) Kirkpatrick of Conover, North Carolina; Kaitlyn N. Foster and Liam R. Young, both of Marysville; and one great-grandson, Malachi E. Kirkpatrick of Conover, North Carolina.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life memorial service today at 2 p.m. at Pharisburg United Methodist Church, where he and his wife were members for over 50 years.
