Rodney Tyler Garner, 22, of Westerville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017.
He attended Marysville schools and worked as a house painter for Gary Lowe Painting in Westerville. He was a member of Sunbury Church of the Nazarene and attended Rock City Church. He dedicated his life to Jesus and was baptized while attending Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge Boys Academy in 2013. He enjoyed playing baseball and played through grade school and high school. He enjoyed skateboarding with friends and had a talent for photography. He also was a huge fan of Cleveland’s professional sports teams.
He will be remembered for his tender heart, huge smile and the positive impact he had on many people with whom he came in contact. He had a close relationship with his sister, Kenzie, never missed an opportunity to play with his nephews and loved spending time with his grandparents. His family was always a priority in his life.
He was born on Aug. 25, 1995, in Willard, to Angela C. Fackler of Westerville and Scott J. Garner of Shelby. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rodney Truman and Elnora (Kelley) Garner.
In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his sister, Kenzie Garner of Westerville; grandparents, John and Connie Fackler of Shelby; aunts, Sue Garner of Willard and Vicki Moore; uncles, Jason Moore of Johnstown, Kevin Garner of Willard and Marc Garner; cousins, Jackson and Grant Moore, Ashton Garner, Brandon Garner and Bronwyn (Chris) Rochford; and many more cherished cousins, aunts and uncles.
Friends may call on the family Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. Route 61, in Sunbury. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Sunbury Church of the Nazarene, 790 Route 61, Sunbury. Final resting words at his graveside will follow at 2 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses. Any contributions exceeding the expenses will be donated to Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge Boys Academy.
