Romonia Chamberlin, age 78, of Marysville, died Sunday, December 12, 2021, with family by her side. She had been under hospice care for a short time. Romonia found great joy in her family, especially her granddaughters. She and her husband, Robert “Paps” were part-time caretakers for her granddaughter, Lindsay, when she was younger. Romonia enjoyed taking her granddaughters to movies and playgrounds or simply playing games around the dining room table. Throughout her life, Romonia worked a variety of jobs, loved visiting with friends, and enjoyed hobbies, such as tole painting. She and her late sister, Judy, loved to play tennis together when they were young women. Romonia had a kind and giving spirit. Over the years, she helped families in need, cared for a teen foster son, and lended a hand to many. She was born November 15, 1943 in Scioto County to the late Charles and Laura Brown. She was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Judy Johnson, earlier this year; and a sister-in-law, Roberta Layne. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert L. Chamberlin, whom she married March 8, 1962 in Wheelersburg; two sons, Charles (Becky) Chamberlin of Mount Vernon and Steve (Julie) Chamberlin of Marysville; her granddaughters, Lindsay and Megan Chamberlin; her brother, Henry “Bud” (Sue) Brown; brothers-in-law, Marvin (Marylou) Chamberlin, James Layne and Ray Johnson; a sister-in-law, Marilyn (Phil) Mattson; and nieces, nephews and good friends, including Diane Salyers and Danielle Mullin (special helper) and family. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Underwood Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Marysville.
