With a warmth that radiated like the sun, Ruth Ann Lemons, 60, of Marysville, lost her battle with cancer on January 8, 2024 after many months of fighting.
She was born in Columbus to Ralph Albert and Doris Eileene Livesay. She was adored wholeheartedly by her parents and three brothers. Full of spunk and heart, she was fondly known as “freckle-faced sarge with the vitamin charge” among her family. Ruth attended Jonathan Alder High School, and Nationwide Beauty Academy. She spent many years managing her household and taking care of her children. She also worked as a cosmetologist, a manager at Dublin Cleaners, a caretaker and kitchen manager in various assisted living homes.
Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Ralph, and is survived by mother, Doris; step-father, Jay Wilson; long term partner, Nick Hinshaw; her daughters: Maria Lemons (Nathaniel Clager), Rene Lemons (Brandon King), Darcie Lemons (Ryan Malloy); step-children: Lora and Levi Hinshaw; granddaughters: Naomi Clager, Audrey, Isla & Ellianna King; brothers: Ralph Jr. (Kathleen), Gerald (Ellen), Jeffrey; and a caring community of dear friends and extended family.
Ruth was the “sunshine” for anyone needing a guiding light. She had a very loving and giving nature that touched the hearts of all those she encountered. She was fully dedicated to her family and friends, constantly showering them with love. She visited the ocean any chance she got to relish in the sun and sand. She enjoyed reading murder mysteries, frequently figuring out the killer before the end. While her daughters were home, Sunday afternoons were often spent watching sappy Lifetime or Hallmark movies and eating Chinese takeout. Using her green thumb and encyclopedic knowledge of plants, she filled her home and garden with them, playfully giving them all names (Esmeralda and Spike, to name a couple).
We will always hear her distinctive laugh (or cackle, as her family endearingly referred to it), sporadic singing, and silly catchphrases. We could not have asked for a better daughter/mother/friend, only to have gotten more time with her. Ruth will be missed every day by all those who loved her, but her memory will live on in their hearts.
Family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday, January 12 and 2-4 PM Saturday January 13, 2024 at Ferguson Funeral Home Plain City where the service will be held at 4 PM on Saturday.
