Ruth L. Douglas, 91, of Zanesfield, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
A 1948 graduate of Raymond High School, she was a loving homemaker and devoted farmer’s wife. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, gardening and baking. Her fresh cookies were always a treat and ready whenever her family stopped to visit.
She was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Woodstock, to the late James Edward and Maggie (Monroe) Eubanks. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of more than 69 years, Melvin A. “Junior” Douglas, whom she married May 11, 1948, and who died Aug. 8, 2017; son, Rex Douglas; grandchildren, Kelly and Greg Douglas; brothers, Howard, John and Pete Eubanks; sisters, Alice Burrus and Betty Miller; and daughter-in-law, Carol.
She is survived by her children, Gary Douglas and Vickie (Roy) Crites of Zanesfield; grandchildren, Cristina (Wayne) Thomas, Chris (Alysia) Crites, Courtney (Guy) Butts, Lynn Douglas, Kerry Douglas, Michelle Barbu and Jamie Douglas; several great-grandchildren; and sister, Elizabeth Eubanks of Tampa, Florida.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. The Rev. Tom Amlin will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at East Liberty Cemetery next to her husband.
