Shirley Mae Teters, age 82, of Marysville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at The Ohio State University Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
She retired in 2002 from Union Rural Electric Company where she served as the company’s secretary to the CEO.
Prior to working at URE, she was the executive secretary for Union County Prosecutor Larry Schneider.
Shirley was known to her family and friends as dignified, sweet, loving, considerate, and self-sufficient. She was always a “phone call away”. She loved spoiling the younger ones in her family.
She really enjoyed traveling around the country. Rather it was with close friends or family, the busy city of Vegas, the peaks of the mountains, or the quiet of the countryside, she enjoyed every single minute!
She also enjoyed taking the younger ones on trips to ball games, to watch shows, to zoos, and on shopping trips.
She especially enjoyed watching her grandson Kyle’s bowling career from start in 2012-present and going to his Band Concerts/Marching Performances from 6th Grade-present.
An avid card player, she liked participating with her card clubs and enjoyed playing “Kings In The Corner”. Yahtzee, Scrabble, Chess, Crosswords, Sudoku, and Word Puzzles kept her brain busy.
Shirley was a die-hard Cincinnati Bengals and Reds fan, but nothing could surpass her love for the Buckeyes.
She grew up with many pets throughout her life and will surely be missed by her Labradoodle companion, “Thunder”.
Above all, Shirley was deeply devoted to her family.
She was born February 6, 1942 in Pickaway County, Ohio to the late Thomas and Virginia Phillips Farmer. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by son Doug (Heather) Teters of Marysville; her grandsons, Kyle Teters of Marysville; Spencer Chenos of Galloway; and close relatives, including David Teters, Dean and Nora Holtsclaw, Jeff and Jennifer Achterman, Stephen and Tonya Holtsclaw, Matthew and Windham Holtsclaw, Sarah Holtsclaw, Aaron and Emily Teters, and Travis Teters.
The family will receive friends from 2-4pm and 5-7pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Underwood Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at New Holland Cemetery in Pickaway County.
Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
