Susan B. Coder, 79, of Marysville, died on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 1:29 a.m., at the Ohio State University Wexner Hospital in Columbus.
She was retired after more than 50 years as an educator in Marysville area schools. She was active in many education associations and, in later years, was a dedicated volunteer at the Hope Center. She was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church, serving in many different capacities through the years.
A loving mother and grandmother, she was committed to her family and will also be remembered as a person who never knew a stranger. She enjoyed playing euchre and Farkle with family and friends and was known as a very serious competitor.
She was born May 3, 1938, in Marysville, to the late Larry and Kathryn (Smith) Brubaker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry E. Coder, whom she married Dec. 21, 1958.
She is survived by her sister, Jane Martin; sister-in-law, Jenny Jenemann; children, Kimm Godfrey and Doug (Michele) Coder of Marysville; grandchildren, Ki (Jon) Griffo, LuCinda Coder (Jimbo), Kane Godfrey (Carrie) and Maddie (Evan) Hustak; great-grandchildren, Knox and Finley Griffo; and beloved dog, Chase.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeffrey Schooley will officiate a Celebration of Life service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Mission Committee or the Hope Center in care of the funeral home.
